Harajuku refers to the area in metropolitan Tokyo between Sendagaya and Jingumae-machi.Harajuku fashion was a movement in the 1980s against the strict societal rules and boundaries in fashion and is divided into many styles and sub-styles, including but not limited to: Lolita, Fairy Kei, Pop Kei, Decora, Gyaru, Ganguro & Cosplay. My area of focus is Lolita fashion, the outfits are influenced by Victorian era clothing and styles from the Rococo period. Lolita fashion has three main substyles: Gothic, Sweet & Classic. There are various other substyles, including: Hime (Princess), Military, Aristocrat, Sailor, Country, Guro (gore), Kuro (Black), Shiro (White) & more.I styled Romee Bhattacharya in Gothic Lolita, she confidently pulled off the entire look, despite it being her first time in alternative fashion. It took me about 3 hours to do the makeup & styling, the photoshoot was done outdoors and wrapped up in an additional 6 hours. I retouched the final photos, here is a shot from the alternative fashion series.
